Zimbabwe, land of the mighty Zambezi river and
the world renowned Zambezi Valley, is home to
some of the largest concentrations of game in
Africa. Hunters & Guides Africa can now offer
classic Big game hunts in one of the best areas
of the Zambezi Valley. We have over 29 species
for you to choose from and with safaris designed
specifically to suit your needs we have something
for everybody from the first timer to the serious
trophy hunter.
HUNTING AREAS
ZAMBEZI VALLEY
· Chete Safari Area
Situated on the shore of Lake Kariba, this wild
and rugged concession between the Senkwe and Muenda
Rivers offers clients a challenging hunt. Due
to the rugged terrain the area has not been well
developed in terms of roads. Hunters must therefore
be prepared to walk in order to achieve their
goals and appreciate what the area has to offer.
Excellent Hippo and Crocodile hunting is to be
had on the lake shore. In addition there are very
good populations of Buffalo, Leopard; Elephant
and general Plainsgame in the hinterland.
For those clients who enjoy fishing we can offer
them the opportunity to try for the famous tiger
fish which abound in the Lake.
· Chirisa/Sengwe
Chirisa is an important link in the elephant
migration routes from the Zambezi Valley through
to the central plateau and Hwange National Park
on Zimbabwe’s western border. With its excellent
network of natural springs and pans, and its diverse
habitat ranging from hardwood forests to lowveld
riverine, Chirisa is a hunter’s paradise
where leopard, buffalo and elephant are in abundance.
A wide variety of antelope species compliment
a truly great all round hunting destination.
In addition to hunting, bird shooting in Chirisa
is superlative with fantastic dove, sandgrouse,
guineafowl and francolin on offer.
Hunters and Guides enjoy marketing rights through
their close association with the Zimbabwe concession
holder and clients can be assured of the exclusive
use of a camp during their safari. Accommodation
is offered in 3 camps with stone and thatch lodges,
with ensuite facilities, overhead fans and main
dining areas, all with exceptional views of the
“Sengwe” riverbed.
Access is via air charter from Harare or Victoria
Falls.
· Matetsi Unit 3
Matetsi Unit 3 lies in the heart of the famous
Matetsi Safari Area, approximately 100 km south
west of Victoria Falls.
Renowned for its majestic sable, numerous buffalo,
big mane lion and heavy tuskers this truly is
a hunters paradise. The Matetsi Safari Area forms
one of Zimbabwe’s oldest and most successful
conservation areas set aside for safari purposes.
This huge ecosystem borders the Hwange National
Park in the south and east, the mighty Zambezi
river forms the northern boundary and Botswana
the western boundary. Together over 20,000 square
kilometers have been set aside for wildlife.
The safari camp is extremely comfortable with
thatched chalets all with private bathroom attached.
There is mains electricity, a swimming pool and
superb dining and lounge facilities.
General species which occur in Matetsi are elephant,
lion, leopard , buffalo, sable, waterbuck, eland,
kudu, zebra, reedbuck, impala, warthog and giraffe.
There is also very good bird shooting to be had.
Situated less than an hour’s drive from
Victoria Falls International Airport, access to
the area is by Land Cruiser. Close proximity to
the Victoria Falls allows for excursions to the
village for shopping and sight seeing.
LEMCO SAFARI AREA
This 850,000 acre fenced conservation area is
situated in the South West of Zimbabwe close to
the Northern border of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
This area, which can be hunted as a single safari
destination, or in conjunction with a Zambezi
Valley hunt with either a charter or vehicle transfer
(which is a 10 hour drive) between areas. The
reserve is home to a host of species which occur
in large numbers in addition to the Big Five.
Vast herds of Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland
are to be found as well as Sable, Tsessebe, Kudu,
Waterbuck, Impala and Warthog.
The area is renowned for its Leopard population
with a 70 - 80% successrate on record. Lions are
also present with a very limited take off ensuring
clients the chance at a big maned trophy.
There are seven luxury safari camps in the reserve
allowing hunters exclusive use of a camp whilst
on safari.
In addition there is 5,000 acres of prime water
stocked with large mouth bass and bream for those
hunters who would like to take some time off to
relax during their safari.
ACCOMMODATION
Depending on species to be hunted clients will
be placed in the camp most suitable for their
safari. The camps are either thatched chalet type
or East African tented style all with en-suite
bathroom facilities and comfortably furnished
ensuring a comfortable nights rest after a hard
day in the field.
